Harrow Half Marathon will be supporting the AKSHAYA PATRA chosen charity of the current Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Nitin Parekh. With the addition 2018 charities RAINBOW TRUST CHILDREN’S CHARITY and FIRM FOUNDATION – more details below.
Overall we are keen to encourage all those who have entered and are fund-raising for a charity to share their stories with us. Please email us on [email protected] and tell us who you are running for and why. We’ll share the best of them on the website.
AKSHAYA PATRA
The charity is one of the largest organisations serving meals to the homeless, needy and students in London. In addition to serving holiday clubs, they cater for over 2000 people every day. It is committed to developing a facility that serves thousands of children, elderly, homeless and people suffering from food insecurity in Harrow and neighbouring Boroughs.
It also operates the world’s largest NGO run school meal programme and it is recognised globally as a benchmark organisation. Having provided over 3 billion meals at an incredibly low cost, they have set new standards and serve nearly 1.8 million children around the world every day.
